In Poker there is a term they use when someone can no longer play coherently, and that is tilt. If a player is on tilt, it means he has reached the point wherein if he continues playing he will lose all his chips. There are several reasons why a player goes on a tilt, and these can also be applied to other gambling and casino games.

The first is simple fatigue. If you have been playing the slots for hours, you should take a break every once in a while. Just getting up from your seat can help clear your head and rejuvenate you. If you are playing in a casino, taking a drink or grabbing something to eat can help.

The fact is that a lot of players do not realize how tired they are until they take a break.

Another good time to take a break when gambling is when you become frustrated. That is one of the most frequent reasons why Poker players go on tilt, and it can happen in other gambling games. If that happens, step back for a moment. Get up, take a few deep breaths and think.

If you are playing Poker, look over your strategy. Are you following it correctly? If you are unlucky at the slots, maybe the machine is just cold, and maybe it is time to try another one.
