Casinos in Louisiana are Slowing Down
After the hurricane Katrina in Louisiana the Mississippi Gulf Coast casino industry is slowing coming back.
The state police have reported that there was an increase of $8.8 million to $217.7 million that total to $226.5 million in July from the Louisiana's state-licensed casinos. Despite the increase in revenue, the profit is still smaller than in previous months.
Andy Holtmann, an editor of the Las Vegas-based Casino Journal, was not surprise at the drop-off of revenue from the casinos.
The hurricanes caused casinos to close however five have since reopened on the Mississippi coast, and two more are going to reopen by the end of August according to the Mississippi Gaming Commission.
Holtmann said, "You're starting to see the businesses on the Mississippi Gulf Coast recover. It's new and bright and people are checking it out."
Holtmann is expecting the casinos in Louisina to get back to normal business, and this time ten times stronger than it was before because the company is planning to invest billions of dollars in the casinos in Mississippi Gulf Coast area.
Riverboat casinos report earning revenues are lesser than before. Many lost revenue compared to last years earnings as Hurricane Katrina damaged tourism to the area. Slowly they are coming back to business with the influx of new and returning customers.
